EDDIE REESE
MEN’S HEAD SWIMMING COACH
2008 HEAD MEN'S OLYMPIC SWIMMING COACH

Eddie Reese is in his 30th year as head men's swimming coach. The 2004 U.S. Olympic men's head coach, and 2005 USA Swimming and USOC National Coach of the Year, Reese has established a championship tradition and set the standard of excellence in the collegiate swimming world.

Reese's Longhorns are the defending Big 12 Conference Champions, and look to move up from a fifth place finish at the 2007 NCAA Championships.   Texas has won eight of the last 18 NCAA National Championships, an incredible 28 consecutive conference titles, and had 28 consecutive top ten finishes at the NCAA Championships.  Reese's Longhorns have never finished lower than seventh at the NCAA's since 1979, and Texas has gone on to win nine NCAA titles. He has coached 40 NCAA individual champions, 29 national champion relays, 146 All-Americans, and 22 Olympians who have claimed 21 gold medals in five Olympiads.

His selection by USA Swimming as the head men's Olympic swimming coach for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China, represents his third stint as the head men's Olympic coach for Team USA, also serving in 1992 and 2004.   Reese's string of U.S. Olympic coaching also includes three other Olympiads: 1988, 1996, and 2000.  He received international honors in 2002 when he was inducted into the International Swimming Hall of Fame.

Eddie Reese started the first Longhorns Swim Camp in 1978 and has always been one of the head coaches. He possesses a thorough knowledge of swimming fundamentals, an eye for talent, a genuine caring for his athletes and the ability to communicate and motivate.  His passion for swimming and knowing the ingredients that are necessary to make champion swimmers, are reasons the Longhorns Swim Camp has thrived for the past 30 years.

*NOTE for 2008 sessions*
Due to his head Olympic coaching duties for the 2008 Games, Eddie's camp schedule is modified from previous camp years. Eddie will work with campers at the Sunday evening sessions, start one-three of the morning training sessions, and lead a Q&A session on Friday mornings. We feel this will allow him to not only fully prepare his athletes for Olympic Trials, but also lead Team USA to its full potential at the Olympic Games. Please contact Jon Alter, the camp director, if you have any questions.
