 CAMP INFO

ELIGIBILITY
Male and female swimmers (ages 8-18) of any ability level are welcome.  It is highly recommended, but not required, that swimmers have competitive experience prior to attending.  Instruction is geared towards competitive swimming, and not learn to swim.  Please inform the Camp Director as early as possible should a special accommodation be needed for your camper. The University of Texas complies with ADA guidelines.

Per NCAA rules, sport camps and clinics conducted by the University of Texas are open to all entrants.  Enrollment is limited only by age, grade level, gender, and capacity restrictions as specified by each camp.

REGISTRATION
Camp space is available on a first come - first serve basis. A $175 non-refundable deposit per session is required to reserve space.  Information and medical form packets are sent with the session confirmation e-mail after completing registration. Camp space is not guaranteed until the application, required forms, and full payment are complete and received. Each session is limited to a max of 150 campers.

REGISTER ONLINE! It's easy, quick, and secures your space immediately!

Camp session sold out? Get on the Wait Lists!  To wait list for a session:

  • When a session sells out, an online wait list option will automatically open up.  You may waitlist for the session(s) of your choice at no charge.  If you have a second session option, it may be a good idea to register for that session as well as the wait list.  If space opens up in your waitlisted session, you can transfer between sessions at no charge.
  • If space becomes available, you will be contacted by E-MAIL and have 48 hours to accept or decline the space. Please be sure to provide an account e-mail address that is checked frequently.
  • There is no guarantee that space will become available, or when it will happen. Cancellations can happen months in advance or the day before a session begins. Every summer is different in how many people gain a spot in camp off the lists.
  • If space does not become available, your e-mail address will be added to the mailing info list for the following year's camp. If your e-mail changes, please update your online account to continue receiving e-mails from the camp. Online registration usually begins on/around December 1.

THE TRAINING PROGRAM
Training at the Longhorns Swim Camp focuses on intensive long-course conditioning and thorough stroke instruction and analysis. Camp is divided into four challenging ability groups based on age and 100-yard freestyle times. One-hour daily sessions focus on swim-specific dryland and strength training exercises. Long course training varies from one to two hours daily depending on ability level. Two 90-minute daily sessions focus specifically on technique work. Stroke drills, as well as start and turn mechanics are included along with classroom sessions and underwater video analysis of each swimmer. A typical daily schedule may be downloaded from the Registration page and is included in the camp Information Packet.

GUEST COACHES & SPEAKERS
Special note regarding Session 5:  Due to the overwhelming and positive response we received beginning in 2019, our Session 5 head camp coach will once again be Olympian Ian Crocker!  We believe this is a fantastic, positive opportunity for campers to be coached by and closely interact with one of the United States most respected and congenial Olympians!  Please contact the camp office at 512-475-8652 or E-mail with any questions.

The 2023 Longhorns Swim Camp is proud to feature multiple Olympians, American record holders, and NCAA champions on staff. We welcome Olympians Ian Crocker, Colleen Lanne'-Cox, Whitney Hedgepath, American record holder WIll Licon, and 2019 NCAA champion/Team USA World University Games member John Shebat! Josh Davis, three-time Olympic gold medalist, returns for his 24TH year with the camp. Josh coaches the Friday morning session.  Please see the STAFF page for more information on our amazing staff!

With more to come!  Our 2023 guest coaches/speakers are still being finalized, and will be posted in the STAFF section as they are confirmed.

FACILITIES
Lee & Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center
All pool sessions are held at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center on The University of Texas at Austin campus. Ranked by Sports Illustrated in 2002 as the second fastest pool in the United States, it is one of the premier competitive aquatic facilities in the world. Since its completion in 1977, there have been numerous American and World records set in its waters, and is home to 23 NCAA national team champions. The competition pool is nine feet deep, 50 meters by 25 yards, and can create either eight 50-meter lanes or 22 25-yard lanes. Movable, power-operated bulkheads can create one of the fastest pools in the world. The diving pool is 18 feet deep, 25 yards by 25 meters, and can create 10 lanes. Visit their website! swim_center_pano_h1001a

Eddie Reese Outdoor Pool
Named after legendary men's swimming & diving coach Eddie Reese, our new $10 million state of the art outdoor facility was completed in the Fall of 2020.  The stainless steel Myrtha pool can create either 15 25-yard lanes with a movable bulkhead, or 5 50-meter long course lanes and 5 25-yard lanes.  The addition of this facility allows Texas Swimming greater year-round training flexibility and ample pool space, and we are excited to utilize it for camp!
